Punk Mini-comics in Dijon ! February 9th !

Good news !
The year sounds well for ChiFouMi.
We will tell you more about many actions which will be very important in the next few months… so remain connected !
But now, see you on the February 9 at the Médiathèque Champollion for our first working group of the year : let’s create zines on the punk movement and its history. Our friends from Affiche Moilkan will be charged to realise the cover.
More informations on the website of the médiathèque Champollion, at Dijon.

Champollion Punk !
And… ! Below are some pics of the very successful meeting and reading of this last thursday ! We had the privilege to welcome Anders Nilsen, at the Ateliers Zone Art, at Besançon.
Anders will be tomorrow at Angoûlème : he is one the nominated authors at the 2013 Festival International de la Bande dessinée d’Angoulême : we wish him the best, and we thank him for his generosity and disponibility ; as for Patrick Marcel who did an amazing translation of Anders last/next book, “The Rage Of Poseidon” ; and without forgetting L’Association for their precious help in this proposition.
And of course a great thank you to all the people who came to the meeting of this precious author !

Anders rencontre / public

More really soon !

Thursday January 24th 2013: meeting with Anders Nilsen (“Big Questions”).

On this website, we have already spoken about Anders Nilsen, this American author who is dear to us in many respects, and who had been one of the residents of the third edition of Pierre Feuille Ciseaux before visiting Franche-Comté locals bookstores to promote his work, in 2011.

It is with a great pleasure that we will receive again Anders to Besançon, on Thursday, January 24th, 2013, at 8:00 pm, to the Ateliers Zone Art (yard of 37 Beating street), shortly before that he goes to the Angoulême International Festival to defend and present Big Questions, his book just appeared to The Association (and which is moreover a member of the official selection).

We shall make that during an evening of discussion, projection and reading.
To the program :
– Presentation of the author and his work, published in France or not,
– Projection commented by (translated) extracts of “Rage of Poseidon“, a self-published project (to a very few copies, what makes it an almost new rarity!),
– Presentation of “Big Questions”, his last work (see lower),
– Questions / answers with the public.

Big Question, d'Anders Nilsen (L'Association)
Big Question, Anders Nilsen (L’Association publisher)

We could spent many time to try to explain to you what motivates us to claim that Big Questions is one of the most beautiful, the strongest, the most moving books appeared these last years: if such was not our conviction, we would not have proposed this exhibition which was dedicated to him, during the same third edition of Pierre Feuille Ciseaux.
But try to summarize this book in some sentences turns out an exercise nastily hazardous, and systematically reducing … We could speak about leader a masterpiece of work to philosophico-metaphysical impact, about a fable humanist but filled with sparrows, we quote Beckett or Chestov, we also quote the big striking comic strips (Chris Ware, George Herriman) but finally, best is probably to have the work in hands, to seize it and to go through it, and to see if we agree to get lost there, to be allowed carry, or no … We hope in any case that you will come to discover this author during this expected coming.

To know more about “Big Questions”, if such seemed necessary to you :
– Interview with Anders Nilsen on du9.org (the very same interview here in english).
– Interview with Anders Nilsen on theartyshow.
– Always on du9.org, chronicles of “Big Questions“, “Don’t go where I can’t follow“, “Monologues for the coming plague“.

Ce Qui Nous Lie (“What Is Linking Us”) is over…

…but it is not a reason to hibernate !

First of all, we want to thank the authors, the publishers and all the stakeholders (without forgetting the generous volunteers !) who made of this exhibition a very successful event !

You were almost two thousands people to come to visit the exhibition « Ce Qui Nous Lie » and to be present at the events we organized around this one. Many of you told us that they enjoyed our work and we really want to thank you for this !

Now, here is the next meeting : from the 15 of November, at the Ateliers Zone Art, for the market of the local artisans, at 37 rue Battant, at Besançon.

Indeed, the association ChiFouMi will stand of Little Ephemary Bookstore with the selection of comics we love and defend by our actions : books from the independant publishing, the alternative publishing, the micro-publishing… We are impatient to suggest you our choices !

La Petite Librairie Ephémère ChiFouMi

Please to note too : many authors will come to show their work and their books.

The firt of these meetings will stand with Gilles Rochier, on the 22 of November at the Ateliers Zone Art. Please check our website to be informed of the next dates !

On Thursday October 11th, The Cinéma de la Scène Nationale of Besançon invites ChiFouMi for a carte blanche on the occasion of Ce Qui Nous Lie, our winter collective exhibition.
Here is its brief presentation release, thanks to its team for giving us this great opportunity :

Movies and the comic art form have a common imagination and fascinating stories to share. The association ChiFouMi, now familiar to our movie theatre, works all year long to promote creative and progressive comic art form as the exhibition Ce qui Nous lie can testify (Gymnase-cultural area of the IUFM at Fort griffon in Besançon, from September 13th to October 17th).

On this occasion, ChiFouMi invites us to explore new graphic and narrative forms through a large selection of movies, cartoons, videos, video clips and visuals as well as sound experimentations which are as many possible pathways between both the drawing and the motion picture universes.

These various works which are far from movies theatres public view gain prominence thanks to the web as they often testify of inventiveness and freedom of tone that compete with their lack of economic support.

They are created by cartoonists, benefit from their contribution from a way or another or reveal some of their significant inspirations.

Some remarkable works that now belong to the history of the film industry will tag this program, such as: Les Oiseaux sont des cons from Chaval, Les Temps morts from Laloux and Topor or another short film from the way too rare Jan Svankmajer.
